A Freemason

∴A PRIMER (ME AND FREEMASONRY)∴

∴My Personal Tumblr (Daysrunaway)∴

I am a 24 year old Freemason from Pennsylvania. I hold membership in two lodges, Columbia No. 91, Grand lodge of Pennsylvania & Madison No. 87, Grand Lodge of Connecticut.

My hope, for this page, is to educate those unfamiliar with Freemasonry, as well as satisfy the needs of those simply interested in the mysticism, tradition and aesthetics of Freemasonry (as well as its related Esoteric Orders).

Freemasonry is, in the simplest terms, a Fraternal Order. We are a combination of a Philosophic, Esoteric, Social and Charitable Order. We exist to make good men better and to better our communities. We better each other through our unique fraternal bonds, and better our communities through the charity we do. We are not a religion and we are strictly non political.

Back from Royal Arch. Got a sweet new T-Shirt and 50 Bucks as Tyler (which means I set up and guard the room while I play Pokémon).

To Elaborate, The Order of The Holy Royal Arch is an appendant body of the masonic family in the York Rite. The degrees, and ideas of it, are defined here: http://www.ramint.org/degrees.html
I also got a new shirt which features the Capitular Keystone with the name of the Chapter, Keystone No. 3 (which we often simply refer to as chapter 3), beneath it.
My Royal Arch Chapter is Temple Melita. I am now, however, the Tiler/Tyler (depending on jurisdiction) of Chapter 3. The Duties of the Tyler/Tiler are defined, for any masonic order, as such:

The ‘Tiler’ (sometimes spelled ‘Tyler’) is sometimes known as the ‘Outer Guard’ of the lodge. His duty is to guard the door (from the outside), with a sword (in sheath) , and ensure that only those who are duly qualified manage to gain entry into the meeting. In some jurisdictions, he also prepares candidates for their admission.
The Tyler is traditionally responsible for preparing the lodge room before the meeting, and for storing and maintaining the regalia after the meeting.
